"SOUND STORIES”: A new oral history and community arts project

Join us in welcoming the local artists leading this project and learn more about Sound Stories (also known as Soundwalking), an oral history initiative supported by the New York State Rural & Traditional Arts Fellowship. We invite Marlborough residents of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences to take part in this exciting opportunity to co-create a truly unique community arts project.

What is a sound walk?
- A slow, intentional walking experience that centers on listening to the environment
- An opportunity to be present with the sounds around us and deepen our awareness of the world and ourselves
- A form of walking meditation
“SOUND STORIES” is an exciting new community arts project that blends oral history, original musical composition, and public performance. The project begins in May and culminates in six public sound walks in October, followed by a final community gathering at the Falcon!
How can you get involved?
- Participate in the oral history portion as an interviewer or interviewee
- Learn how to conduct and record oral histories
- Guide participants on sound walks
- Perform at one or more of the six public sound walks, and/or at the final community gathering at the Falcon
